Monash University

We were lucky enough to work with one of Australia’s (and the world’s) most respected universities, Monash University for a range of their communications collaterals. With a strong reputation and a large reach, the university’s marketing had to cover many tones, knowledgeable, reputable, vibrant and passionate.

Always respecting the university’s brand and styles, the collaterals designed for them achieved a successful mix of individuality within the parent style, all appropriately conveying the focus of the piece.

Monash University’s Gippsland campus is located in the regional Victorian town of Churchill, it has around 2000 on-campus and 5000 off-campus students. Their courses and research options range from arts, media, technology, education, health and engineering, providing a range of options usually found only in metropolitan campuses.

For this project, the aim was to provide an overview of the campus, of the specific research capabilities offered and how it meets regional needs. Based on the creative for the Research In Focus Conference (pictured below), the style was developed to portray the coming together of both the research and the industry at large, like the focusing lenses of a microscope, but expanded to represent the campus in its entirety.

Join the DoTS is a series of pathway courses aimed at students who hoped to enter a chosen course but who’s exam scores were not high enough. The program guides a student through the series of steps (or dots) needed to gain enough credits to join their desired course.

As part of the collateral, the information booklet folds out into an A2 poster which both course advisors and students could utilise to determine their needed pathway based on their personal interests or personality type.

Research In Focus was a conference held in the Gippsland campus (now Federation University) which was aimed at highlighting the breadth of Monash’s research expertise and new breakthroughs.

Visually borrowing from the Gippsland Campus Capability Statement, the conference branding and styling depicted the ‘focusing’ aspect, where breakthroughs are made by chance encounters or findings.
